The Owens sisters are finally back, and somehow, returning to their world felt like coming home.

Practical Magic 2 reunites Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as Sally and Gillian Owens for another story filled with moonlit mischief, ancestral magic, family, and a dark curse threatening to unravel the Owens family once and for all.

I laughed, I cried, and I felt completely wrapped up in their world throughout the entire movie. It gave me the nostalgia I wanted while still allowing the Owens family’s story to grow. There were emotional moments, funny moments, and plenty of reminders that the women in this family are always strongest when they stand together.

The cast also includes Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod. Of course, seeing Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing return as Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny made everything feel even more magical.

Directed by Susanne Bier and inspired by Alice Hoffman’s novel The Book of Magic, the sequel explores another chapter of the Owens family’s history. For me, it was more than a sequel. It was a reminder of why so many of us have carried this movie with us for years.

Practical Magic has never been just about witches. It is about complicated sisters who love each other fiercely, the power passed down through generations, and finding the courage to face what your family could not overcome before you.

Now, apparently the critics and I did not watch the same movie. Rotten Tomatoes critics gave it 37%, while Fandango audiences gave it 92%, and IMDb users rated it 6.4 out of 10. That gap is wild, but the audience score makes much more sense to me.

Personally, I give Practical Magic 2 a 9 out of 10. Was every single moment perfect? No, but it made me feel something. I laughed, cried, and left the theater wanting even more time with the Owens family.

Gather your favorite people, wear something a little witchy, and go experience the magic for yourself. The Owens women are back, and they still have a little magic left.
